When servicing a car, we must know what components should be replaced so that the car’s performance is maintained.
It is highly recommended that we carry out regular car service. Most people will do a service schedule every six months or follow the service schedule that has been provided by the car manufacturer. It is the best way to keep your car running perfectly and safely. Of course, you don’t want to drive a car that can break down all the time, right?
But what to do when servicing a car? Here are nine procedures that you should know.
1. Change Oil
Engine oil provides lubrication in the engine compartment for smooth, unimpeded performance. There are 2 types of oil, namely synthetic and non-synthetic. Synthetic oil usually lasts longer, around 10,000 kilometers before you have to replace it again. Meanwhile, non-synthetic oil has to be changed at 5,000 kilometers intervals.
Synthetic oil can also last 3,000 kilometers longer before the quality of the oil degrades. But you should not take risks, so it is better to keep changing at 5,000 kilometers intervals.
In our opinion, high-quality synthetic oil doesn’t make much of a difference, so it’s best to stick with good quality oil, for more information: dodge charger scat pack
2. Oil Filter
The oil filter filters dirt and dust from the engine. This filter must be replaced every time you do an engine oil change. This step is important to avoid an accumulation of oil lumps.
3. Spark Plug
Spark plugs are useful for burning compressed fuel and creating an explosion in the combustion chamber. Every car has a different number of spark plugs, and each spark plug also has a different lifespan. Better quality spark plugs tend to last longer, with usage spanning 40,000 kilometers. Where low-quality spark plugs only last about 20,000 kilometers.
4. Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF)
ATF oil is an automatic transmission oil that is useful for lubricating the gearbox and this lubricant must be changed every 25,000 to 30,000 kilometers. Flushing is the method used to drain gearbox oil, and it is recommended that it be changed every 50,000 kilometers.
The engine generally pumps 80% of the ATF oil and circulates it in the engine. The engine will cause the transmission oil to circulate continuously in the engine compartment and the dirt in the gearbox will dissolve in it. Therefore it is very important to drain the transmission oil so that your car can run more smoothly when there is a gear shift, for more information: dodge service
5. Power Steering Oil
Power steering oil should be changed every 30,000 kilometers and drained at intervals of 50,000 kilometers. Power steering oil helps reduce heavy steering wheel rotation when turning.
If you hear a strange sound when turning the steering wheel, it is a sign that the power steering fluid needs to be replaced immediately. Or if not, the power steering oil is not enough.
6. Pads and Brake Oil
When should you replace brake pads? When you hear a noise when braking. This is an indication that your car only has 20% more canvas left. On average each brake pad lasts about 35,000 kilometers. But if you are a driver who doesn’t drive aggressively, the brake pads can last up to 100,000 kilometers.
Usually, compatible brake pads have a louder sound even when they are new. But speaking of braking distance, both original and below have a quality that is not much different. You should immediately replace this component when servicing the car.
7. Tire Rotation, Wheel Balancing, and Alignment
Tires that brake frequently tends to wear out more quickly, so they need to be rotated more quickly. Exactly every 10,000 kilometers. By rotating the tires, all four tires wear evenly so you don’t have to rush to replace every tire that starts to wear out. Tire life generally ranges from 30,000 to 40,000 kilometers.
And it’s also important to align the wheel angles once every 20,000 to 30,000 kilometers. This is because the wheel angle or wheel alignment begins to change. So that one side of the wheel will wear out faster. You’ll know your car needs spooring when you take your hands off the steering wheel, and the car starts moving toward one side.
8. Air Filter
The air filter is useful for filtering dust particles from the air that will enter the combustion chamber. As a result, clean air will produce more complete combustion. So you should be diligent in changing the air filter for every car service.
9. Others
Some of the other main components that need to be replaced are the wiper rubber when it starts not being optimal. In addition, you should also refill the freon gas if your A/C device is getting cold.
